Intro:
Now all eyes go to Dafne Keen (Girls Friday) to see if she can finish the job for her stable to win this war or will Florence Pugh (LMW) continue their comeback. Both women are in the top end of the flyweight rankings, so a win here will be massive for them.
They are fighting in Dubai's Jumeirah Beach. With both asked for a few words outside their stables tents after their stables last fights. Alicia Atout heads to the LMW tent first to get Florence's opinion on her stable picking up their first victory in the stable war. Florence is all smiles as she appears in white bikini with her hands wrapped in white tape.
"Oh I loved that, seeing Ana's face as she came back to the tent after picking that win up was priceless. I'll be making it two wins in a row of course" says Florence with a cheerful demeanor.
When asked about her opinion of Dafne. Florence replies "she is a good kid. I respect what she has done so far but she isn't getting past me tonight. I want to prove we are the best stable in the FCBA and that starts by taking down those BBU interlopers." Winking as she finishes up.
Alicia then heads to the Girls Friday tent. Dafne appears wearing a black hoodie as she looks a bit annoyed to be asked anything when she is focusing on preparing. Alicia asks her if she feels any pressure right now. Dafne shrugs her shoulders before saying "it's just a fight to me."
She is then asked about Florence, to which she replies "look Florence is a great fighter and all that. I just need to do what I do best to win. I am here for my stable but I need to think about myself right now." Going back into the tent without any other word.
Fighting time! The ring posts are set into the beach as first to walk to the ring is Dafne, she has her coach Ming-Na Wen behind her. The "Logan" star is wearing a purple bikini with matching gloves, hair tied into a braid. She bangs her gloves together before stepping into the ring ready to fight.
On her way comes Florence now with her coach Gillian Anderson to her right. Florence is wearing a white bikini with matching gloves, hair into a ponytail as she steps into the ring. The blonde beauty dances on her toes in her corner as she stares across the ring at Dafne.
Both walk to the middle of the ring for a face off and to listen to the referees instructions. There doesn't look any malice between them but still thru have ice cold stares for their opponent. A quick touch of gloves with a nod of respect before jogging back to their corners as they are keen to get started. The bell rings to start 10 rounds of flyweight action.
Round 1:
Jabbing away to start as they try to find their range. Florence lands several stabbing straight punches into the face of Dafne to knock her head back. Dafne dipping down more to come in closer to work away towards the end of the opening minute.
A right cross catches Dafne around her forehead to push her back a step. Florence uses the opening to swarm her opponent and back her to the ropes. Dafne needing to grab hold of Florence to slow her down. The referee having to break them apart so they can fight on.
Florence has hold of the middle of the ring, making Dafne move around the outside part of the ring. Dafne only landing single punches as she is focused on not being beaten down this quickly. The bell rings with Dafne nodding to herself knowing she didn't put her best foot forward this round.
Round 2:
Dafne is out using more head movement to dodge and land several stiff counter shots. Florence landing more cuffing punches and starting to think more about her tactics here. That allows Dafne the chance to strike over the top with overhand shots.
Boxing around the middle of the ring. Florence starting to land more as she starts to adapt. Still she gets caught out with a straight on her chin and gets pushed back towards a neutral corner. Where Dafne is whacking away at her torso with short hooks till she is pushed off.
There's an annoyed look on the face of Florence as she is being forced into heated exchanges. They go toe to toe at times around midrange till the bell dings to end the round. Florence taps her gloves together as Dafne looks laser focused here.
Round 3:
Back out they resume with both exchanging around the center of the ring. Cheeks starting to get marked up as they open up more. Dafne slips a straight and comes back with a right cross square into the face of Florence to knock her back a step.
Dafne now being the one pushing the pace, making Florence miss at times when she ducks down and moves out the way of some sweeping hooks attempts. Florence gritting her gumshield to not curse as she is losing patience by the looks of it.
Gillan telling Florence to cool off. Florence getting back to basics with her jab late in the round, aiming it more into the chest of her smaller foe to try to pin her down. The round comes to an end with Gillian telling Florence that she did better at the end. While Dafne looks relaxed enough as she sees on her stool.
Round 4:
Coming out more settled after a rough patch, Florence is boxing better now she is holding Dafne at bay better. Dafne not enjoying being hit around her chest before smacked into her face with straight shots. More hooks coming from both as they enter the second minute of the round.
Dafne does land a few solid hooks to the ribs of Florence but gets pushed back. Florence smacking back Dafne with a few right crosses to her face. Forcing the younger woman around the perimeter of the ring. Florence looking back in control as she holds Dafne at arms length.
Under thirty seconds to go, Dafne trying to force the issue late on, she is getting to scruffy and gets shoved back. Smacked around her the ring when Florence lands a flurry of punches. The bell rings with both women locking eyes for a moment before passing each other by to return to their corners.
Round 5:
Pushing off their stools to engage each other with real gusto as they try to push each other around. Florence starting strong as she hammers home several solid shots square into the face of her opponent.
But as they enter the second minute of the round, Dafne crouches under a straight to come over the top with an overhand left on the chin of Florence to twist her head around. Dafne coming back at her now to drive Florence back to the opposite side of the ring. Whacking in short hooks to the ribs of Florence to make her groan out.
Pushing Dafne off her, Florence trying to control the action again. Instead it's hard fought action. Sweat flying off both, ending up clinched at times as they were giving it their all. They are broken up and soon enough the bell rings. Pundits hard torn to work out who to give the round to. Sitting on their stool getting a drink of water and cleaned up.
Round 6:
Pushing into each other at times. Florence landing a few solid jab/straight combos but is getting caught with those short hooks under her ribs to make her groan. DAFNE SLIPS UNDER A LEFT HOOK AND LANDS A COUNTER RIGHT HOOK UNDER THE RIBS OF FLORENCE TO MAKE HER CRY OUT AS IT LIFTS THEM UP! DOWN TO HER RIGHT KNEE GOES PUGH!
Dafne walks over to the neutral corner with gloves gripping the top ropes either side. 1....2....3... Florence is breathing harder as she rubs her left side. 4....5.... She looks up at the referee wincing. 6....7....8... Florence gets to her feet with her fists raised, showing she wants to fight on.
Florence is trying her best to fight back but she is not throwing with as much power or speed. Dafne is getting inside whack away at the torso of Florence to knock her backwards. FLORENCE ENDS UP ON THE ROPES SHELLING UP, MORE PUNCHES LAND AROUND HER SORE RIBS TILL IN COMES THE TOWEL FROM HER CORNER!
Winner Dafne Keen TKO Round 6
After:
Dafne raises her arms with a relieved look, while she might have put on a brave face, she has had to have the pressure of her stable to win the stable war for them. In the ring comes Ming-Na to hug and lift up Dafne. Who can't help laughing as she enjoys this victory more then any other one in her career so far.
All the while Florence goes down to her right knee again holding her side as she is winces. No complaints from her to Gillian when her coach comes into the ring. Ice pack placed on her left side to numb the pain she is in. Florence looking relieved when she feels the ice pack.
Over comes Dafne when Florence is back to her feet. Dafne offers out her right fist in a sign of respect. Florence accepts the glove touch with a nod. Before Florence is helped out the ring by Gillian so she can go back to her teams tent.
Florence will be seething inside that she is the one to lose this stable war for her stable. If history has proven an indicator for the future, Florence has proven when she has been in a bad position before, she has the grit to come back stronger.
In the ring Dafne gets her left hand raised in victory by the referee. Most of her stable rushes to the ring to give her a hug. Telling her how proud they are of her, only Kendall Jenner hasn't come out and that's because she is preparing for her own bout.
It does show though how much Dafne has been welcomed into the stable. Leaving the ring together with her stablemates. They are making her the center piece of the celebrations as they walk back to their tent.
